Eve Plumb in Hollywood
By Sydney

It was June of 1998. My best friend Tricia and I went to Hollywood as a present for our high school graduation. Both of us are rather good at keeping our cool in the presence of celebrities...especially those who are bitter about their Hollywood careers.

Tricia and I went into a really interesting Movie/TV Memorabilia shop in Beverly Hills, and I bought myself the Brady Kids 45 "Zuckerman's Famous Pig." Tricia bought a box of "Partridge Family" paper dolls, saying that "The Brady Bunch" was a blatant Partridge rip-off. Anyway.

As we continue our sojourn down Rodeo Drive, who should we see selling her art work in a "spendy" part of town? Eve Plumb! Keep in mind, I had already run into Sarah Michelle Gellar, Andrew Shue, and Nicholas Cage, so Eve Plumb was small potatos to me. I waited patiently in line while Tricia went and got herself another autograph (some rock star, I think). Finally, my chance to talk to the great Eve Plumb arrived. I started by telling her that I thought she was a fabulous actress. I rolled off some of her obscure TV appearances trying not to bring up "The Brady Bunch." "You were great on 'Fantasy Island' and 'Dawn.'" I say. She is very friendly, even relieved, I think, that I didn't mention TBB. I ask her for an autograph, and she says (still friendly) "Well, I'm really only supposed to sign the paintings, but what the heck!" So, I present to her the only artifact from my dull life that I would want autographed by Eve Plumb..."Zuckerman's Famous Pig." One look at the single, and Eve goes from friendly to bitch in 2 seconds. "Oh my God!" she says, "I hated that song! I'm an artist, not Jan Brady! I guess you'll just have to buy one of my paintings." And I said "No thanks. I guess you'll just have to talk someone else into buying your work," and I walked off. Okay, so I was a little rude, but what a witch! Tricia came back, and, noticing the look on my face, said "I take it she's still upset about having five brothers and sisters and no bathroom?"
